Savvy in Sterling Silver

Like most pieces of jewelry, lockets never go out of style.  They are worn and valued by young and old alike and remain special and cherished as time goes by.  They also make fabulous heirloom pieces, especially those made with the finest quality gold or Sterling . Pendants are wonderful gifts as well during birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, Valentine”s Day, and other significant events.

Girls are partial to a Sterling heart pendant, so give one to a debutante or a young graduate. Sterling  pendants with diamonds or gems ,  are perfect for wedding anniversaries and other celebrations with Silver themes or motifs.  Older women would likewise treasure Silver, gold  or diamond pendants.  Silver lockets and pendants make a great impression too.  A sterling silver oval shaped locket embodies elegance and timelessness, and would literally make a dazzling present for birthdays, anniversaries, and weddings.

What is Jade?

Jade is an ornamental stone. The term jade is applied to two different rocks that are made up of different silicate minerals. Nephrite jade consists of the calcium- and magnesium-rich amphibole mineral actinolite. The rock called jadeitite consists almost entirely of jadeite, a sodium- and aluminum-rich pyroxene. The trade name Jadite is sometimes applied to translucent/opaque green glass.

The English word ‘jade’ is derived from the Spanish term piedra de ijada or ‘loin stone’, from its reputed efficacy in curing ailments of the loins and kidneys. ‘Nephrite’ is derived from lapis nephriticus, the Latin version of the Spanish piedra de ijada.

A jade necklace and other jewelry are among the most popular examples of accessories out there.
